Top 3 Reasons To Join The Classic Car Subculture
March 18th, 2009
If you’re one of those people that attend classic car shows just to drool, you’re not alone. There are plenty out there who sit on the fence of this hobby, looking in but never quite joining. If you’re just not sure buying, restoring and showing off a classic is for you, there are some things that might sway your stance.
The first thing you have to remember is that you don’t have to run the circuit to enjoy a classic car. You can simply own and drive one for personal enjoyment. There’s no rule in the book that says if you own a 1965 Shelby GT350 you have to take it to car shows.
So, why should you dive into this hobby? There are three very compelling reasons to do so if the notion is tugging at your heart:
- The personal rewards – There is just something incredibly rewarding about watching an antique car come back into condition under your watchful eye. Whether you do all the work yourself or you hire others and supervise, the result is the same. You have personally taken a piece of history and restored it to pristine condition. That’s pretty amazing!
- The potential investment return – Classic cars are not like other vehicles on the road today. The fact is certain models restored to their original beauty can be worth a small fortune.
- The “wow” factor – Whether you take your classic to a car show or not, you will no longer be the one on the fence drooling. You’ll have others who will check out your ride in awe.
It’s one thing to enjoy going to car shows to check out the classics. It’s another entirely to get involved in the hobby personally. Break that barrier and chances are you’ll never look back.
