Defending Your Classic In The Green Era
September 10th, 2009
You, your friends, your family and fellow enthusiasts might love your classic car, but that does not mean everyone will. This is especially so in the era of green where cars without optimum fuel efficiency are vilified for their consumption. There are things you can do, however, to defend your car if the need ever arises.
Classics are a drivable piece of history that represent one of the most important inventions for ushering in the modern era. Long before the age of computers, automobiles helped bridge the miles between people and opened the door on easier transit and faster shipping of products. Even if your car is not from the early years of the automobile, you can do these things to help support your case for keeping and preserving a classic:
- Research your vehicle history – Understand where you car came from and why. Know its history and you can share it and help others appreciate it.
- Keep your car as efficient as possible – Make certain to maintain your car to its best fuel efficiency level possible. This means keeping up with tune ups, running tires at the right pressure and so on. Your wallet will thank you for doing this, too!
- Limit use – You might not want to drive around a car that gets 10 miles to the gallon on a regular basis. Try to limit the use of your classic. Take it out for shows and even joy rides, but consider keeping it under wraps for everyday use. This will help preserve your car, too.
Classics are not necessarily green, but they are important. Every model considered a classic represents a step in the march toward automotive and transportation progress.
