Accessories to Make Your Classic Ride More Comfortable
August 12th, 2009
Driving a classic is an experience few would trade. Still, there are times when modern conveniences would be nice. Since many classics were built in the days before CD players, air-conditioning units and cup holders, accessories are often needed to deck out these rides in style. The danger in adding things, however, is found in actually altering the vehicle or its authenticity.
If a few creature comforts that will not impact the appearance or structural integrity of a car are desired, there are accessories that can make a difference. Some of the options out there that can work with classics include:
Dashboard fans – Clip on fans can help keep the inside of a car more comfortable. These battery-operated devices are easy to remove when it is time to show off a car, too.
“Hump” trays – Cup and change holder combinations that sit on the hump between the driver and passenger seats can provide a bit of extra convenience when it is needed the most. Again, these are not permanent fixtures, so there is no worry of actually altering the classic.
Portable CD players – If the factory radio in the car still works, fiddling with perfection just is not right. Instead, looking into CD players that work off the cigarette lighter or other similar devices that will not involve mounting.
It is not impossible to enjoy a few modern conveniences while tooling around in a classic. When a little hunting around goes into the prospect, a classic can remain fully intact, too.
