Protect Your Ride With A Car Cover
May 3rd, 2009
Looking for a way to protect your classic when it is parked for the night or for an extended period of time? While garaging will help keep the elements at bay, this act is not necessarily enough to protect the exterior of a classic from dings, scratches and dust. A car cover, however, can help.
Car covers provide an extra layer of protection between your car and outside forces that can cause damage. When a custom or at least well-fit cover is put into place, a car will be protected from surface scratches, dust accumulation and even minor dings. This can go a long way in helping avoid problems during garaging, but a cover will not do the job alone.
To enjoy an even greater level of protection when storing a classic in a personal garage make sure to:
- Keep a barrier between the classic and other cars – Ideally, a restored classic will be stored in its own garage. When this is not possible, make sure to park other stored vehicles far enough away to avoid accidents. If possible, create a soft barrier to avoid accident run-ins.
- Do not park under or near shelving – Garages are meant to house not only cars, but also cans of paint, tools and other objects that can put a beating on a classic. Make sure the antique car is parked far enough away from potential hazards.
Garaging is one of the best ways to protect a classic when it is not in use. Making sure a parked car stays looking great does require a few precautions. A cover can help.
