Keep Your Classic Insured
April 24th, 2009
After years of looking and dreaming, you have finally brought home an antique car to restore. While your precious baby might not be worth much in its present condition, it could fetch a fortune down the road. When restoration is completed, some classic cars can end up valued at a princely sum. The value can even continue to climb as the years go by.
Considering the time, effort and expense you are likely to go through in putting your classic back into pristine condition, it does make sense to properly protect the vehicle. While traditional insurance companies might not be willing to help you out, there are companies out there that will cover antique cars properly. There are even some that will protect your car during the restoration period, as well as after it.
Getting insurance on your classic will be required if you intend to drive it on public roads. Having basic coverage, however, will not help you protect your investment. To make sure your bases are covered, you will want a policy that will cover the real value of your car.
Finding companies that cover classics will take a little work. They do exist. To locate a reputable one, look online or consult with those in the know at local and national car clubs. Take the time to select a company that is recommended and has a strong reputation going in its favor.
Owning an antique car involves an investment of not only time, but also money. Make sure to protect that investment with the proper insurance coverage.
