Tips For Selling Your Classic At The Best Price
April 1st, 2009
You’ve had your fun and even though it’s hard to part, you have decided it is time for your classic car to bring joy into someone else’s life. The problem is you’ve put a ton of money into the ride and you want to make sure you get the best possible price out of the deal.
Fortunately, there are things you can do to ensure you get a good sales price. With a little due diligence on your part and some patience, the chances are good that you can fetch top dollar for a classic car that has been well restored or is at least well on its way to full restoration.
To get the highest possible price on your resale classic, make sure to:
- Get an appraisal – Having an appraisal in hand is an excellent way to ensure that you get top dollar or close to it. A professional appraisal will take the guesswork out of valuation and let potential buyers know what they are getting themselves into, as well. Do not expect to get the exact amount of the appraisal, but somewhere in the ballpark should not be out of the question.
- Review selling options – There are a variety of places to market your classic for resale. Take the time to review the choices and see which ones tend to fetch the highest prices. Private sales can net decent prices, but sometimes auctions fetch the highest prices.
- Be patient – If it is your desire to get the most money possible, do exercise some patience in the process. You are not likely to find a buyer for a classic overnight.
Selling a classic car for top dollar or close to it can be done. To get the most, you will need to do some research and dig your heels in to obtain the highest offer possible.
